How Pro Trailer Backup Assist with Trailer Reverse Guidance Works
Using Ford's new system couldn't be easier. Start by pressing the center button of the Pro Trailer Backup Assist knob. This brings up a list of available trailers. Choose your trailer and the system will attempt to locate it. Once the sticker is located by the rear-view camera for regular trailers, or the sensor is detected for fifth wheel or gooseneck trailers, the screen will prompt you to shift into reverse to activate the system. Follow the prompts displayed on the information screen and use the Pro Trailer Backup Assist knob to steer the trailer in your desired direction. Remember, the left turn of the knob (counter-clockwise) directs the rear of the trailer to go to the left, and vice versa.
Alongside this, the system provides multiple camera views, allowing you to switch views manually at any time using the arrow keys. The default Auto mode changes views as per the trailer direction, while the 360 camera view shows both a rear-view and an all-around view of the vehicle. Other views include Rear-view, Rear-split-view, Bed camera view and Trailer auxiliary camera view, offering a comprehensive coverage to ensure smooth trailer movement.
