Features
The FordPass Connect system uses the vehicle's onboard modem or wifi to communicate with Ford's servers, downloading and installing new software updates when they become available. The system also includes an automatic updates feature, which is set to on as default when your vehicle is delivered. This means that your vehicle will be updated with the very latest software from Ford as soon as it's available. For those customers who would prefer to control when these updates happen, FordPass Connect also includes a scheduling function, allowing users to set a time and day for updates to be installed.
To verify that automatic updates are set in your Ford F-150, simply navigate through the settings on the center stack screen. Touch the system update tile - within there, you'll see the automatic updates slider. If it is set to off, simply slide it to on.
Once an update has been scheduled, your vehicle must be parked and the ignition turned off for the update to be initiated. The in-vehicle display will notify you the first time you start the vehicle after a successful update, displaying a 'software install successful' icon, which you can tap for more information.
