The F-150 Lightning is more than just an electric vehicle. Its production takes place at the brand-new Rouge Electric Vehicle Center. Taking up a massive 500,000 square feet, this modern facility is constructed with almost 18,000 yards of concrete and 5,600 tons of steel.
This high-tech facility introduces an innovative way of car making, exchanging traditional conveyor belts for automated guided carriers. This method increases flexibility in production, allowing the manufacturing process to easily adapt to fluctuating customer demands without the need for physical rearrangement of the production line.

The building itself is environmentally conscious, using natural light supplemented with LED lighting to minimize energy consumption. Their forklift trucks run on hydrogen fuel cells, in line with the goal of zero emissions production.
